A WFH Friday Ritual: Swap Your Commute for Self-Care

Working from home changes the rhythm of your day — no rushing, no traffic, no squeezing onto busy trains. It gives you something far more valuable: time. And what better way to use that time than to move a little slower, reset your body, and ease yourself into the weekend feeling calm and refreshed?

Here’s how to turn your work-from-home Friday into a gentle ritual that leaves you feeling good inside and out.

1. Use your “commute time” to move your body

That half hour (or maybe more) you’d usually spend commuting — whether it’s driving, taking the bus, or sitting on a train — make it yours. Use that time for you. We know how hard it can be to carve out time for self-care — life is full, and we’re all trying to use every minute efficiently or productively. But this is also an investment — one you’re making in yourself. So clear your Friday morning schedule from house admin, skip the laundry, and actually spend that time on you. Before your morning coffee, roll out your mat for a slow yoga flow, or just stretch to your favourite playlist for an easy, gentle start after a week of travelling and working from the office. It will clear your mind, ground your energy, and (trust us) you’ll feel far more productive afterwards.

We’re leaving a yoga session link here — it’s one we’ve done in the past and loved. Feel free to follow along with this flow. Join the flow.

2. End your day with a dry brushing ritual

When work is done, use your “commute time” again — this time for winding down. Close your laptop, grab your body brush, and create a few minutes of me time. Spend five minutes (or more if you can) dry brushing your body — slow, gentle strokes towards your heart. If your evening is looking quiet, turn it into a full self-care moment: run a warm bath, light a candle, listen to your favourite playlist, or even catch up on a series while you soak. If you’re heading out for dinner, drinks, or a celebration, take a warm shower instead and enjoy that refreshed post-brush feeling. Then, take your time moisturising — your skin will soak it up beautifully. Honestly, it’s like therapy.

3. Create your version of calm

Once you’ve finished your routine, if you’re staying in, Maybe cook a cozy hartwarming dinner then light a candle, sip your glass of wine or herbal tea and read your book. Because self-care isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing less, more intentionally. So this Friday, skip the commute and give yourself back that time. Move a little, brush a little, breathe a little — and start your weekend already feeling like yourself again. 🌼

With love,
